Child Safeguarding Policy

Introduction:Our policy ensures the protection of children involved in Set Them Up Foundation CIC's services and activities. Upholding children's rights to safety and well-being is our priority.

Key Terms:For this policy, 'child' refers to anyone under the age of eighteen (18).

Safeguarding:Children face various risks, including abuse, neglect, and exploitation. Employees and volunteers play a vital role in identifying signs of abuse.

Safeguarding Principles:

  • Remain alert to safeguarding risks.
  • Create safe environments for children.
  • Report concerns promptly and professionally.
  • Challenge and report inappropriate behavior.
  • Act responsibly around children.

Reporting Concerns:

  • Call 999 if a child is at immediate risk.
  • Contact the Designated Senior Lead for Safeguarding promptly.
  • Handle disclosures calmly, record concerns, and report to the designated lead.

Person in a Position of Trust (PiPoT):Consideration must be given to allegations against a PiPoT. Any concerns must be reported to the Designated Senior Lead for Safeguarding.

Recording and Record Keeping:Detailed records of safeguarding concerns must be securely stored, adhering to GDPR.

Safeguarding in Practice:

1. Safe Recruitment & Selection:Stringent recruitment policies ensure the safety of children by preventing unsuitable individuals from working with them.

2. Confidentiality and Information Sharing:Maintain confidentiality, sharing information only in compliance with GDPR. Report to the authorities if a child is at risk.

3. Whistleblowing:Protection is assured for employees and volunteers who report concerns in the public interest.
